Founded 20 years ago by husband and wife and “living saints” Karen Rodas and Estuardo Reynosa, the Hogar provides a loving home for approximately 80 children.

The work never stops and Karen and Estuardo never stop dreaming – and building to keep expanding the opportunities for the children of the hogar and the surrounding community.

The current and latest dream is a technical college to teach trade skills and an eldercare center for the elderly community from the nearby impoverished village.

Technical College and Eldercare Center at the Hogar Miguel Magone: Making the Dream a Reality (Updated Jan 2025)

We began visiting the Hogar in 2010, a few years after our church had begun visiting the hisar annually, following the installation of a Living Waters for the World water purification system that continues to provide clean water for the hogar.

Since we began visiting Karen and Estuardo with the help of a few non-profits and partners they have built a music building – and ever expanding music program, a psychology building – and growing psychology program to meet the needs of the children, an entirely additional girl home – or rather a magical castle, and now under construction is a technical college and eldercare center.

Some additional wonderful nonprofits who support the hogar include:

Infinite Chance – where you can sponsor individual kids at the hogar and hear updates about them. And when we go down each summer we’d be happy to get some updates or bring down a gift for them too.
